Emergency Care

  • Common examples of dental emergencies?

    • Toothache

    • Broken dental work

    • Chipped or broken or loose tooth

    • Bleeding, swelling, or abscess

  • A toothache may be a sign of dental infection. Toothaches usually don’t go away on their own. Even if the pain comes and goes, it’s a sign of a problem—like a cavity, infection, cracked tooth, or gum issue.

Contact our office as soon as possible so we can find the cause and treat it before it gets worse.

In the meantime, take an over the counter pain medication like acetaminophen or ibuprofen or gently rinse using warm salt water to reduce the pain or swelling.

  • Losing or broken dental work can expose inner areas of the tooth, making the tooth more vulnerable to infection or complications.

Call us ASAP to make an emergency appointment. Save the crown and bring it into your emergency appointment to fix the issue.

In the meantime, avoid using that side of the mouth, and hot or cold or sweet foods to prevent sensitivity and further damage.

  • Call our office to make an appointment ASAP so your dentist can evaluate the area and make recommendations to protect your smile.

    • A minor chip or crack might not seem like much, but if left untreated can cause infection and further damage to your tooth.

    • If your tooth is loose, avoid touching it and only eat soft foods until your emergency appointment. Your dentist will splint your tooth to stabilize the healing process.

    • If your tooth has fallen out, rinse it with clean water if it is dirty. Then keep the tooth moist by placing in back in its socket, a container of milk, or tooth preservation kit (available at pharmacies). Time is extremely critical and it is best to go to your dentist within 30-60 minutes to save your tooth.
